Patriotism or Humanity

The city of Cambridge will not allow the body of Tamerlin Tsarnaev to be buried in Cambridge Cemetery.  The City Manager, Robert Healy, thinks it will cause " turmoil, protests and widespread media presence.”  I wonder whether Healy would feel the same way if the Westboro Baptist Church were to appear at a burial in the cemetery or if a convicted criminal were to be buried there.  His actions are what one would expect in a totalitarian or backward nation, not in the land of the free and home of the brave..

It's been 10 months

I haven't read about the Westboro Baptist Church since February.  But now they see a PR opportunity in the Newtown killings.  They say that they will be picketing the vigils there.

It's really sad how tragedy can unleash a lot of strange people who just know the right thing to do: arm the teachers, arm the staff, give the principal an M-1, blame it on same sex marriage, because the schools teach evolution and how to be a homo, etc., etc.

Trying to fix a Blogger problem

Will it display more than one post?
It looks like the Westboro Baptists have decided to attack this blog as the previous post (the one below this) was appearing all by itself.  It is necessary to click "Older Posts" to see the rest of this blog.

They're overdue for another hit of publicity

The case of the father blowing up his house and killing his two children has garnered a fair share of national publicity. With the number of military casualties having diminished over the past few months, the Westboro Baptist Church has had few opportunities to use publicity to spout its message of hate. But they'll be back in action this weekend, this time in Tacoma at the church where the funeral for the two children will be held.

The 'rationale' for their appearance is that Washington is about to enact a same-sex marriage law.  The 'Christians' of Westboro known that the likely passage of this law is the reason why the children died.  So, they must protest. But, as is now common practice by a variety of groups, Occupy Washington will do its best to “protect it (the funeral) from Westboro’s abhorrent message.”
