What's with airplanes in Indonesia?

In March a Malaysia Airlines plane was lost and has yet to be found. Yesterday, an Air Asia plane traveling from Indonesia to Singapore with 162 on board was lost forty minutes after take-off. Apparently most carriers from Indonesia have been barred from Europe by the European Union.
