Another medical journal, Tumor Biology, has admitted that it published papers that cheated the peer review process. Between 2010 and 2016, 107 of the papers published in the journal have been retracted.
The journal allowed authors to submit the names and email addresses of potential reviewers for their manuscripts.
The names were real, but the emails were bogus, with some apparently controlled by companies paid by the authors to help them get their papers published.
