An Act of Human Kindness
Last night I had dinner at Carbone's, a quite good local restaurant, with my daughter and granddaughter. It was a pleasant evening. We decided who was going to pay the bill and called the waitress. She did not have the bill. Why? It had been paid by a gentleman sitting near us. He had been the beneficiary of an act of human kindness and wanted to create his own act of human kindness. We were amazed as this was the first time we had benefited by the act.
He was not finished. I had trouble getting up. He helped me to do so. At least two acts of human kindness yesterday.

Wow. Wonderful.
I have been thinking about this random act of kindness (being one of the recipients). Al talked about the random act of kindness and I want to comment on receiving an act of kindness. In our society we are taught that asking for, or receiving help is a form of weakness. Yet, I believe being able to humbly, and wholeheartedly, embrace an act of kindness (or assistance of any sort) completes the act of kindness and exhibits personal strength and self-acceptance, along with perpetuating positive connection between people. So, not only do I plan to propel this act of kindness with one my own, but I fully embraced the generosity of another, which felt really good.
What a great lesson for Sadie.
