Here's what he had to say about a decision he made when he was 13: “I hated the prosthetic. It was awkward. It made me look normal, like a person with two legs. But I wasn’t normal. It was just better for me to be happy and in a place where I could do what I wanted in life, and from there, you know . . . find a way to fit in, make a spot for myself, just with crutches.’’
