Our Florida correspondent has became entranced with odd ways to make music. Today, he talks about Steven Baber, who makes sound effects for commercials. But one day he got the notion to "document every single sound you could possibly get out of a bike". So, he started applying his microphones to a mountain bike and a road bike.
He captured the sounds you would expect, such as peddling and gears turning, the brake caliper snapping back into place, letting the air out of the tubes, or running a guitar pick along a spinning tire. But he went further and took a violin bow to the spokes on a wheel.
I wish I could embed his music, but the best I can do is point you to a website.
