Isn't the cable industry magnanimous?

Miracles can still happen! The cable industry is willing to forego 14% to 30% more revenue that the recent FCC study claims would be the result of allowing consumers to choose only the cable stations they want. Isn’t that wonderful? The cable industry is more interested in serving the general public than in serving their stockholders. Yeah, right. And I have a bridge I’ll donate to you.

I recently decided to get shut of my cable provider and switch to satellite, only to discover too many trees blocking out the signal. The man shook his head firmly, "Sorry, mate, no can do." Morosely, I returned cap in hand to the cable company, paid a load of money to go 'digital', and now get just over half the channels I would have got for the same price on satellite, and most of them are not the channels I wanted.
When I asked why they wouldn't put the satellites higher in the sky, above the trees, the man replied, "I don't really know. I think it's because the dish would have to be tilted higher, and they'd collect rain - and birds would nest in them" Well, hey! I could get around that. Drill a hole in the middle to drain the water and stick a plastic hawk on the back of the thing. Don't these people have any brains?
I have a deep loathing of cable companies. Their product was always inferior to satellite TV in Britain, and it seems the same applies over here.
