So now there is something called Boundless Informant which details and even maps by country the voluminous amount of information it collects from computer and telephone networks. We learn this from The Guardian, which has been on a tear this week re the NSA. The information provided by this tool is still metadata, rather than the content of
an email or instant message. And it is collecting a ton of data, collecting almost 3
billion pieces of intelligence from US computer networks over a 30-day
period ending in March 2013.
While NSA says it does not collect any type of data on us, the fact sheet for the tool states the tool
shows information including: "How many records (and what type) are
collected against a particular country." Since the tool can provide data as detailed as the IP address, the question of the veracity of NSA's claims is raised.
It just gets worse and worse.
