“Lockheed Martin’s Fort Worth, Texas, quality-management system and the
integrity of the F-35 product are jeopardized by a lack of attention to
detail, inadequate process discipline and a ‘we will catch it later’
culture,” so says the Pentagon IG. Not only is Lockheed Martin not doing the job, the same is true for the Pentagon's Joint Program Office, which is overseeing the job. This style of doing business results in more than 200 repairs for each aircraft and cost taxpayers millions of dollars.
The F-35 has been plagued with problems, some of which I wrote about back in February. It is the largest U.S. weapons acquisition program ever and will cost us over a trillion dollars when completed.
