Prosecuting the Dead

Here's a first. Russia will put a dead man on trial.  This is the first time this has happened in Russia and probably in the civilized world.  They will be trying a man who died while in prison in late 2009.  There was a great deal of criticism that his death was the result of his not receiving proper medical care. In fact, the U.S. has barred officials connected to the case from entering this country.  One theory as to why Russia is doing this: they want to exonerate the officials who were originally involved with the case, which not only involved the death but also charges of government corruption.
