Pay the Meter

That's what Bonn, Germany, is telling the prostitutes who work the streets. Bonn allows prostitution and, as you would expect, the business is very well organized. Private police funded by the city do patrol the area designated for prostitution. The city has built a garage where business can be conducted in the customer's cars. The city feels it only fair that the street prostitutes pay the same fee as other prostitutes. Every night the street workers have to put 6 euros in the meter. Failure to do so is punishable by a fine of up to $145.
