The New Bottom Line

This is another anti-Wall Street group. It is made up of "a coalition of community organizations, congregations, labor unions, and individuals working together to build a movement that challenges established big bank interests on behalf of struggling and middle-class communities". They will be marching with Occupy Wall Street today.

The New Bottom Line also has trouble articulating its goal. Their elevator pitch: "We need a new bottom line that puts the economic interests and financial security of working American families first." I know that things are bad in so many places today that it is not easy specifying the one, two, or, at most, three goals that will spur the rest of us to actively support these 'rabble rousers'. I would suggest three goals:
  1. Restore Glass-Steagall
  2. End the Bush tax cuts
  3. Get out of Iraq and Afghanistan.
