Why China?

A couple of years ago it was the SARS virus that was mowing them down in China. This year it's Enterovirus 71, a virus that attacks children. On April 30, the BBC reported 1900 cases, today the number is up to 5151. The number of deaths has increased from 20 to 26.

It still bothers me that they killed all those chickens (the main meat in many places) worrying about bird flu. It is only a matter of time before some disease wipes out a bunch of humans. Laurie Garett has been writing about this for a long time.

Sorry - Garrett.

PS: It isn't as easy to fix as say starvation, but we don't do much about that.
