State representatives in Indiana have a lot of time on their hands. Why else would a State Senator bother to propose a law to regulate just how our national anthem is sung?
Sen. Vaneta Becker has introduced a bill that would set specific "performance standards" for singing and playing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at any event sponsored by schools that receive state money. The State Education Dept. would set the standards, which would be enforced via a contract signed by performers and by a $25 fine for those who don't meet these standards.
