Having solved crisis #XX this week, our leaders need a vacation. So, the House and Senate are off enjoying the summer until after Labor Day, which is on September 5 this year, more than a month away. While these fine, conscientious leaders are resting from their labors, more than 4,000 employees of the FAA will be in deep shit without a job, since our leaders were unable to agree on the funding of a relatively small part ($14,000,000) of the FAA's budget, a part, by the way, that brings in $30,000,000 a day to the federal coffers. Do the math and you'll see that we will forfeit about $1 billion in revenue while these idiots blather about how unions are ruining the world.
Not only are 4,000 FAA employees furloughed but anyone working on airport building projects - and there are, maybe, 10,000 doing so - is also sitting at home our of work. Thank the Lord for the FAA airport safety workers; they are working without pay and paying their own travel expenses.
How many more examples of our leaders' callousness do we need?
