Fiddling While The Country Burns

The economy really sucks here and in Europe. Growth is minimal. Unemployment is high.  The middle class is vanishing.  Our manufacturing capabilities are close to vanishing. It looks like we're going into a second dip. We're engaged in two unwinnable wars. Child poverty is at its highest in fifty years. Our education system does not turn out as many talented kids as it used to. The world is running out of oil. Climate is changing not for the better. And one could go on and on about the current state of the world. Thus far, the 21st century has not been exactly a great one; it's on track to be worse than the 20th century.

What are our leaders doing about any of this? Trying to make it worse. Is the addiction to power so strong? Can people really be so stupid?
